02 · Resilient Seated Gate Valves
In a resilient seated gate valve the wedge is fully encapsulated in elastomer and seals against a smooth, unobstructed bore. There is no seat pocket for grit to collect in, which is why this design dominates municipal water distribution.
03 · Metal Seated Gate Valves
Metal seated gate valves use machined metal seating faces. They are specified where the service conditions are more demanding than a resilient seat is suited to.
04 · Rising Stem and Non-Rising Stem
Behaviour: The stem travels upward as the valve opens, giving a visible position indication
Where it is used: Above-ground plant rooms and pump stations where headroom allows
Behaviour: The stem rotates in place and the wedge travels on it, so overall height stays constant
