02 · Why a Gearbox Is Needed
As valve size and pressure class rise, the torque needed to seat and unseat the closure member quickly exceeds what an operator can apply to a bare handwheel. The gearbox multiplies that input torque so a large valve can still be operated by hand.
03 · Manual Now, Motorised Later
Specifying gearboxes ready for electric actuator gives a project a path to automation without replacing valves. The gear unit already carries the correct mounting interface, so an actuator can be added in a later phase.
04 · Declutch-able Operation
A declutch-able gearbox lets the operator disengage the powered drive and take over with the handwheel — the practical safeguard when power is lost and a valve still has to be closed.
